| S&S recently started preliminary design work on one of the fastest growing box-rule class yachts to date, the Class 40. Spawned from the success of the larger Open 60's currently dominating open ocean racing, the Class 40 box rule was created with specific emphasis on controlling and reducing costs. Intended for racing by a limited crew, S&S has taken special consideration in the design of the cockpit and deckhouse to afford the driver as much comfort as can be expected in this high speed machine. They have allowed for dual companionways, allowing windward longitudinal mobility mostly seen only in larger Open designs. With a total sail area of 1237 sq ft, including a large-roach, square-top main and asymmetrical spinnaker, the design promises to be powerful. Continuing along with the design, S&S plans to complete CFD studies in order to optimize the hull, keel and rudder and talks are underway to put together a tank testing program to better verify the CFD results. Accommodations below are limited, as can be expected in a pure performance machine, but include a dedicated navigation station, limited galley with stove, berths for 4, and a fixed head.

| After chartering the classic Sparkman & Stephens Design No. 1663, TIZIANA numerous times this experienced Italian yachtsman decided to commission a yacht better suited to his individual needs and desires. Underway, her 100’ of flush deck, large cockpit and classically styled deckhouse, she is sure to remind her owner of a by-gone era. Additional cues gleaned from classic S&S designs include Dorade boxes and butterfly hatches, as the client has expressed an intense desire to use natural ventilation wherever possible. Built using cold-molded wood construction techniques, she will displace 80 tons and glide along under 3,500 square feet of sails. Sailing will be simplified by the use of under-deck captive reel winches for the boom-furled main halyard and 2:1 main sheet. Below the deckhouse sits a spacious salon with views all around and a navigation area forward. Aft of the salon are a full beam master and 2 guest rooms, all with en-suite heads. Just forward of the salon is an additional guest room with en-suite head and the crew quarters, including berths for 6, a galley and separate crew mess. The interior will be finished in the Herreshoff style, bright work below the waist-line and finished white above.

| This new design is a blend of “Classic S&S” with its trademark sheer, graceful overhangs, traditional transom and teak trim and “Contemporary” with a raised pilothouse, large flybridge and clean superstructure lines. The hull and sail plan have been designed to maximize cruising enjoyment through performance in a wide range of conditions.
