Refit Projects Are Underway
Sparkman & Stephens Designers are Hard at Work Preparing a Number of Fine Yachts for Their Return Next Spring
It has been a busy Fall and Winter for refit and refurbishment projects and there will be a whole crop of boats looking extra beautiful come launch time in the Spring. A recently acquired Baltic 52 (#2544) in the Long Island Sound area approached S&S in the Fall to help them transform her into a truly dual-purpose racing and cruising yacht. The project has grown to include a new carbon fiber mast, new deck layout, new racing sailplan, and the installation of additional modern cruising amenities. Across both sides of the Atlantic, in the Med and New England, S&S continues to consult on multiple racing classics, helping owners to understand their boats and develop their racing programs. The C.I.M fleet racing in the blue waters off France, Spain, and Italy continues to grow and we have a number of classics for sale ready to join the fun. In Maine, an extensive refit is underway on our 48ft Modern Classic Daysailer (#2752) and S&S is providing project management support for the process from start to finish. Work on her systems, fit and finish, sails, and other unique features will yield a boat gleaming as-new and ready to provide effortless sailing to her owners for many years to come. Finally, the Naval Architects in our Newport, RI office continue to work hard on an exhaustive 12 Metre refurbishment and we are excited to see her results on the racecourse come springtime. The 12M World Championships are coming to Newport in July of 2019 and we have all the tools on hand to help you acquire, refurbish, and race a successful boat in the Classic and Racing classes of the growing 12M fleet in the lead up to this major event.
